My Stroke Story - Lorna Aherne.

: Cwmbran

: June 2007, aged 54, I suffered cerrebelum stroke. Had been in work previous day. Early in morning woke with severe head pain and vomitting. Was taken to hosp and after insistence by daughter was given CT scan (they thought I had infection in ear). Stroke was confirmed and they also discovered a meningnoma (benign brain tumor). Spent month in hosp, had to learn to walk again. After many months made a good recovery. However, foolishly after big weight gain resumed smoking - lost the weight but the vertigo returned - so have quit smoking again! Prefer to gain the weight than the dizziness. Have never been depressed through symtons and remained positive. Hopefully giddiness will go away again in time.
