Hi, I had my stroke on Monday, was finally diagnosed a few hours ago, they were thinking it might be migraine related due to my medical history and age (28), I too am having some strange sensations on my left side since the event. I have full motion and dexterity back now, it only lasted about 12 hours or so, but since the even, I have numb patches on the left side of my face and the left side of my body, I cannot stand it being touched at the moment... It is almost like I have patches of reduced sensitivity and hyper sensitivity... Not pleasant, but, compared to the feeling and sensations during the actual stroke, not worrying in the slightest. Just an unusual aftermath, really...

This is how each of mine started. first a feeling of impending doom then followed by breaking out in a cold sweat then a feeling like my stomache just turned inside out, then total weakness and shakes and then out. people present said I kept trying to get up like a knocked out boxer but no memory of that. but be prepared. in my case 4 to 7 days afterward the depression and paranoia are enough to make you do something you'll regret . I know dr's don't listen but the feelings are not mental they are physical just like afterward the feeling every cell in my body is about to explode. sure my symptoms aren't same as everybodys, but I pray you all never have to go through 1 second of what I have been through.my first was at 14 yrs old it took me over a year to recover on my own,no help,no dr no anyone. this is true not a joke wish it were.

ebt247,

While I'm not experiencing everything on your list, I have experienced some. I had my "event" on 4/2/13. I'm pretty well recovered now but I have some of the weirdness you describe. Shoulder discomfort, can only sleep on my left side for any length of time due to unknown soreness in my right arm (the affected side). Laughing ... yeah, my sense of humor has definitely changed. Sometimes I crack myself up - and I laugh at things I didn't used to and it's hard to stop. Positively weird. As for the arm soreness, I have a theory. Maybe because of the strength-deficits in the lower body, the upper is working harder and is sore as a result? I have noticed that when I get out of my car, I use my arms more than I used to when pivoting in the seat to get out. Just a thought.

This has definitely been a weird experience, that's for sure.

Hello, just joined because I have residual numbness in left foot from strokes experienced two years ago. I have been doing physical therapy exercises daily since then and they do help. Seems to me that if you can, it is vitally important to keep moving all affected areas. This is just my own opinion but it makes sense.

Neurologist told me I would have all of the recovery I was going to get within 18 months of the events. I don't feel particularly bound by his estimate; each of us in a unique individual and no one can precisely pinpoint what our outcome will be. So I keep pushing myself to exercise the left leg and foot, and do word games every day because I believe in the power of exercise of all kinds.

Feeling lucky that the outcome was not worse and keeping that in mind when I become frustrated with the numb foot. Now I eat right, control blood pressure and cholesterol and practice regular relaxation via hypnosis. The body and mind have amazing abilities to heal and yet can use all the help we can provide.

All my best to everyone going through this.

My husband had a stroke on 4/6/13. He went thru rehab and is back to work and doing well. The only thing is that he still has lots of tingling in his right arm/hand/side of face and ear. Also hot/cold sensations to those areas too. He's trying to be optimistic, but it is really bothering him. Said it is getting worse.

His heart doctor said it could go away or he could have it forever. That didn't help his confidence. He seems so down because of it. No doctors gave anything definite, so we're going back to our primary doctor to start again.

Anyone have the same symptoms? Anything he could physically do to help it?? I'm sure he doesn't want any more meds. He is on Coreg (generic version) and Coumadin. Thanks for any help on this subject

Von, I want share in every one's problem specially who is suffering from heart problems. But in fact I am not able to even after willingness cause heart disease is really the worst of all. If you are a heart patient the symptoms of heart disease are having pain in left leg or arm ,heavy sweating in a chilling atmosphere. I think you might have felt sweating during your attack.

I had a stroke last December. My whole left side is still numb and I freeze on that side. I have been advised that these are nprmal during recovery but that doesn't make it any better to deal with. Aparently 6 months post is considered by most doctors as the milestone asto your long term recovery. I have been offered meds for these "wierd" feelings but the eisk of possible side effects are scary. I take comfort in knowing from others who have been through this have indured similar feelings and recovered. God bless you in your journey and lets continue to support each other by sharing our challenges and thoughts. Initially, I felt so alone but have realized that others have indured so much more and recovered just fine.

I know about this my mom has faced a cardic arrest in near past and we have gone to a hospital. Doctor said nothing can be done for now as kidney and valve were not properly working. But at-last she is alive cause of her will. I think will power is something that can make any work.

Hi Guys.
Hope you are all doing well. I have just turned 40 and had a stroke (bleed) from a weird vein in my brain i didn't know i had. This was back in April 2012.

I had full left sided paralasis and was lucky enough to get into a specialist rehab unit in Kent. I was there for 10 weeks and left walking with full use of everthing.

I still have numbness and tingling in hand but i know what that is so it doesn't worry me.

Since then i have had lots of weird feelings and problems. I am worried to discuss with my doctor as he sends me for all sorts of tests that all come back negative and i end up in a vicious circle.

Here are some of my weird things.

Left side of face feels cold like i have a cold but i don't

pain in left shoulder - from sleeping funny.

Pain under left rib, was convinced it was ibs but now i think maybe doc is wrong and muscle related?

laughing. I laugh more now but it isn't always pleasant. Sometimes i find it difficult to stop.

main thing is how to tell if something is due to stroke or not.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has a way to determine what is post stroke and what is not. My Doc just shrugs if i say anything about post stroke!!!!!!!!!!!!!
